Toyota begins search for the first Mirai Fuel Cell customers.

Guinea Pigs Wanted! Toyota is searching for clients to try the all new Mirai Fuel Cell Sedan

Toyota has put out a call for potential clients who want to own a Hydrogen powered car! Who will be the first to adopt this new technology?

A new way to power your car has arrived

Toyota has been showing off its Mirai concept for a while now and has finally put out the call to consumers. Call up your Toyota dealer and see if you’re eligible to be one of the first in North America to own a Hydrogen Fuel Cell powered vehicle. If you haven’t heard of the hydrogen fuel cell, think of it like this; The car takes the hydrogen, creates a reaction which produces energy, this powers the car, and the only thing that comes out of the tailpipe is water. It used to sound like science fiction but now it is a very true reality.

The Japenese car giant is poised to make hydrogen fuel cells the next way all cars are powered. Much to the chagrin of Elon Musk who would rather have all cars powered by batteries. While Tesla and Toyota continue their debate about which is better (Elon thinks it’s “silly”), let’s get into some details.

Should you be approved to own a Mirai you will get:

  • Three years’ worth of complimentary fuel (WHAT)
  • Three years complimentary Safety Connect and Entune, including hydrogen station finder app.
  • Three years of 24/7 customer call support.
  • Mirai Complimentary Rental Experience for seven days per year for three years.
  • ToyotaCare, our standard no cost service plan and roadside assistance, is enhanced for Mirai and offers:
    • No cost scheduled maintenance for three years, or 35,000 miles, whichever comes first.
    • No cost enhanced roadside assistance[5] for three years, regardless of mileage, including expedited towing service and trip interruption reimbursement at a maximum of $500 per day for up to 5 days per incident.
  • 8-year/100,000-mile warranty on key fuel cell vehicle components including the FC stack and power control unit; FC hydrogen tanks; hybrid battery pack and ECU; FC air compressor, boost converter and ECU; hybrid control module (power management control module); and hydrogen fueling ECU.

So basically if you can insure it, and make the payments, Toyota will fuel your car for free. That is a pretty good bargain for what could be the Camry of the future.

So who’s it going to be? Let’s see some of these zipping around Vancouver, spraying water exhaust over Toronto, being funny-looking in Montreal. Just don’t forget who to call when your Hydrogen Fuel Cell powered vehicle, one of the first in the world, needs some wheels and tires.
