Toyota and Mazda are coming together, could future branding look like this?
 

The rumors have been confirmed, with Mazda Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation having combined forces to share their competency and resources and get mutual benefits in terms of technologies and products. With this new partnership, the companies aim to satisfy the changing tastes and demands of consumers the world over.

All the proceedings of this partnership will be overseen by a joint committee which would assess the procedures and techniques used by the auto manufacturing bigwigs and help them to make use of the resources in order to benefit the most. The committee will also support meaningful and broad collaboration across various fields, which comprise of state-of-the-art safety and environmental technologies.

In a growingly competitive market and amidst increasingly strict regulations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, Mazda and Toyota are thinking of a complete merger in eco- friendly technology. According to the Nikkei business daily, the companies are in the last stages of their proposed partnership and wish to reach an agreement sometime soon.

Under this new partnership, Toyota is planning to supply plug-in-hybrid technology and fuel cell to Mazda, which does not have electric-vehicle technology. Mazda, on the other hand, will provide Toyota with the proprietary, eco-friendly “Skyactiv” technology. The car manufacturers also plan to collaborate in other aspects, which include joint purchasing of auto components. The Toyota group will also provide Mazda with commercial vehicles.

Toyota president Akio Toyoda, while speaking to the Japanese press, remarked: “We are excited to be working with Mazda. This partnership is based on a shared vision and mutual respect. Masamichi Kogai, the honcho of Mazda, said: “I hope that by working together to make cars better, we can raise the value of cars in the eyes of consumers while also enhancing the manufacturing capabilities of our home, Hiroshima, and all the communities we are involved in as well.”
