Elon Musk has confirmed that Tesla is working on Roadster 3.0, we’re excited about INSANE MODE in a much lighter car!

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has finally confirmed the news. In his Twitter account, he has revealed that the Tesla Roadster 3.0 update will possibly be coming up in the month of August this year.

The Tesla Roadster 3.0 package was announced in the later part of 2014. According to a statement by Elon Musk, the package will pass the safety validation by end-July and it will become available in August commercially. The updated version will come fitted with a latest 70 kWh lithium-ion battery. Although it is similar in size as the present one, it will be able to carry 31% more amount of power.

The updated vehicle is set to come with low-rolling resistance tires. It will also be made available with enhanced wheel bearings. Its drag coefficient will be reduced to 0.31 from 0.36 due to the presence of a retrofit aero kit. All of these updates will provide the car with the peak range of over 643.7 km or 400 miles before the battery power drains out completely.

The 245-mile range of the original Roadster is still a big figure by the latest standards for electric cars. The new package is going to take the figure up further by 40 to 50 per cent and allow drivers to notch up as many as 400 miles in some types of driving conditions.

The upgrade kit for the Tesla Roadster 3.0 will come with completely new wheel bearings, brakes and tires. The new brakes are supposed to lower the rolling resistance of this car to 8.9 kilograms from 11.0 kilograms per ton and also do away with residual brake drag.

The update was announced in 2014 in the month of December, when Tesla Motors commented that it was confident that it will not be the last upgrade for the Roadster.
