Nissan’s “No Charge To Charge” Program Expands

In order to push Leaf and other EV sales, Nissan has been rolling out its “No Charge to Charge” Program which has officially hit Boston. How long before we see it in Canada?

Charging your Nissan Leaf just got easier in Boston…

Today Nissan USA announced the expansion of their “No Charge to Charge” Program. That means every Leaf sold in Boston will get 2 years free charging at any Nissan sanctioned charging station. Roll up to their quick-charge stations and your Leaf can get juiced up to 80 percent in about 30 minutes.

This marks Boston as the 17th area in the US to get this deal, included alongside San Francisco, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Diego, Fresno, Seattle, Portland (Oregon), Chicago, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Nashville, Phoenix, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Houston, Denver and Washington, D.C.. That is a lot of cities! And marks some serious competition for Mr. Musk who’s been trying to expand Tesla’s charging infrastructure with the vigor of methane from a reusable rocket nozzle.

What does this mean for Canadians? Well… at this time not much. The EV Charging infrastructure in this country is spotty at best. We found one in Ottawa last time we looked, it seems most of the local Tesla and Leaf owners charge at home. However, news of this expansion does not follow of deaf ears, and with gas prices back on the rise let’s hope deals like this make their way to the True North Strong and Free soon!
