The Mercedes G 6x6

The 6×6 G-Wagon is officially sold out, you’ll have to find some other luxury liner to cross the desert until Mercedes decides to make more…

After being released sometime in the early months of 2013, the extreme Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6 has sold out officially in less than 2 years. More units of the car have been actually sold than was originally expected by Mercedes, since its launch in 2013. It was earlier expected that over 100 units of this car would be released, but the German auto manufacturer has ended its production in order to keep this vehicle model special.

For those out of the loop, the vehicle originated from the C320 CDI that was recently developed – particularly for the Australian army. It is an amazing 5867 mm in length, 2111 mm in width and 2209 mm in height. It is evident from these dimensions that the car is an amazing 43.5 inches more in length than the standard 4-wheeler.

More units of the German vehicle have managed to sell than was expected originally by Mercedes. Well over 100 units of the car have been constructed, with the last unit set to be delivered to customer in May from the G-Class factory in Graz, Austria. Although more numbers of this car could have been sold, its manufacturer has decided to cease the production and sales of the vehicle in order to preserve its exclusivity.

Other than the addition of an extra axle and two additional wheels, the car comes with a fully new body that is integrated with flared arches. The vehicle makes use of the same 5.5 L, twin-turbocharged V8 engine mated with a 7-speed transmission gearbox which is similar to the more standard G63 AMG. Due to this reason, it produces a similar 560 lb-ft of torque and 536 hp of power. The drive is sent to all of its 6 wheels and the car is able to notch up a peak speed of 160 km/h and can achieve an acceleration of 0 – 100 kmph in only 6 seconds.

When the car came out for the first time, it was one of the costliest models from the firm behind only the Mercedes-Benz SLS Electric Drive and having a starting price of 379,000 Euros. Given the fact that its production is to stop, the car is set to finally turn into a collector’s item!
