Jaguar F-Type Gains AWD, Manual Transmission

This big beast is gonna have a traditional stick! Rejoice!

The Jaguar F-Type has earned a lot of enthusiastic approval from all corners for its robust engines, attractive design and rewarding handling.

The 2016 model comes with an all-wheel drive that will be a standard on all the 550-hp F-Type R models. On its V6 variants for 2016 with rear-wheel drive, the F-Type will come with a 6-speed manual transmission.

All the F-Type models have been provided with electric power steering, by making use of a stiffer steering shaft which can maintain the connected feel of the hydraulic setup with the street. The close-ratio manual is around 22 pounds lighter as compared to the trims that come with automatic gearbox. The F-Type has been integrated with 6-speed manual transmission and all-wheel-drive (AWD) from Jaguar.

The F-Type R models can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in only 4.1 seconds, and achieve a peak speed of 300kph.

Vehicle Line Director at Jaguar, Ian Hoban, says “With the manual transmission option for the V6 F-Type’s, we’ve gone to intricate lengths to engineer a very precise, technical and responsive level of interaction between the driver, the clutch and the transmission shift mechanism.”

The Jaguar F-Type seems to be a worthy follow-up to the legendary mid-century E-Type. According to Ian Hoban, the car is one for the “driving purists”. It comes with a lot of improvements and many of them are on display for the first time at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week.

The new 2016 F-Type Convertible range will include F-Type R (404kW, Quickshift RWD or AWD), F-Type S (280kW, Quickshift RWD) and F-Type (250kW, RWD Quickshift / RWD manual). The new 2016 F-Type Coupé range will include F-Type R Coupé (404kW, Quickshift RWD or AWD), F-TYPE S Coupé (280kW, Quickshift RWD or AWD, RWD manual) and F-Type Coupé (250kW, RWD Quickshift / RWD manual).

The 2016 models will be up for sale in the spring and the prices will be announced closer to the release date.
