German Students Break 0-100km/h World Record. 1.779 Seconds!

Blink, and you'll miss it!

Crazy speed in a tiny package.

Just watching this video will make your neck hurt.

A group of students from Uni Stuttgart (Germany) have just advanced the World Record for 0-60mph (0-100km/h up here in Canada) by a mere 0.006 seconds. Once again electric motors have proven that they can out-torque even the all-time greats (Bugatti Veyron SuperSport we’re looking in your direction).

This comes on the heels of Tesla’s announcement of a new “Ludicrous Mode” option, further advancing the power of it’s already insane P85D.

One question circulating our our office is, what was the real difference maker here? Was it a feat of engineering? Or was it more of a reaction-time plus slick tires thing? As you can see in the image and video below, this thing is sticky as all getout. Could a Tesla on slicks achieve a similar result? Any Tesla owners in Calgary or Toronto want to let us put that to the test?

Don’t be afraid to watch this one twice, it’s quick.
