Ferrari 488 Goes Topless
Start by adding a turbo, then drop the roof…
Ferrari’s newest blue baby is the 488 Spider, a drop-top version of the controversial 488 GTB which ended the reign of naturally aspirated engines in their review dominating mid-engine supercars. Rumor has it, this baby will outrun an F50 with the top down. We already loved how many styling queues were adopted from the 458 Speciale, and to see some additional queues from the 458 Speciale Aperta is really jaw dropping. This car looks stunning in bedroom poster form, it’s likely to cause some people to feint when it is officially unveiled at the Frankfurt International Motor Show in September.
Like its sister the 488 GTB, the numbers are staggering. 0-100 km/h in 3 seconds, and 0-200 km/h in 8.7. The speed comes from the 660hp engine, that thing in the middle, with the turbos on it. You can expect to see a few of these racking up demerit points across Toronto and Vancouver, where even the rare Liberty Walk kitted versions have been shot by some of the world’s best photographers, check our facebook to see the images, bring spare undies.
So this is pretty exciting news that’s quickly circulating the internet. We’re looking forward to hearing the whine of it’s revolutionary (almost) lagless turbo system around town.
Ready your drool-cup, here’s a gallery.
