The 367-hp RS3 sedan is finally hitting the shores of the U.S, and the news has been confirmed by none other than Scott Keogh, the CEO of Audi of America. The confirmation makes long-heard rumors and suspicions true.

Keogh has also said that the RS3 would be more appropriate for the U.S market than the RS3 hatchback, which is equally amazing and is being sold in Europe at present.

The RS3 is going to join the existing lineup of Audi in the United States, that comprises of the 5-door A3 plug-in e-tron hybrid hatchback, the sporty 292-hp sedan S3, and the A3 sedan. Keogh expressed his confidence about the RS3, stating that the automobile is “going to be a great positioning car, a great halo car.”

The RS3 is equipped with a turbocharged 2.5 L, 5-cylinder 367 hp engine. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission gearbox and boasts of a Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The vehicle is able to offer an acceleration of 0 – 60 kmph in only 4.3 seconds. The car has the ability to produce a peak power in the range of 155 – 174 mph, based on the option package that is selected by a consumer.

The RS3 is already being sold in Europe as a 5-door hatchback, and it is equipped with a 2.5 L. 5-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine that can produce a power of 367 PS and gives an acceleration of 100 kmph in only 4.3 seconds from standstill.

Although the news is likely to disappoint hatchback fans, sedan lovers will be rejoiced to know that the RS3 is finally coming to the US. But the compact sedan may not be right everyone’s alley and those who require a sedan that offers more space along with luxury will find the Q8 to be more suitable for their requirements. However, they will need to wait a little longer as the Q8 is geared up for a launch in the year 2017 in Europe, and will release shortly afterwards in the U.S. According to latest rumors, the lineup could also see a completely electric E-Tron variant.
