2016 Nissan Maxima: Can This Bring Back The Four-Door Sports Car?

For a long time, Nissan has tagged its large Maxima sedan as the “4 Door Sports Car”. But in this entire duration, the car has not been what this official moniker suggested. However, Nissan seems willing to change that with its new 2016 Maxima if its new Super Bowl ad is anything to go by. And judging by the commercials, the car also looks the part.

The only time that someone looks forward to commercials is during the Super bowl Sunday. The “With Dad” commercial from Nissan was one of the most outstanding commercials for many, and it was aired during the game on Sunday. The all-new 2016 Nissan Maxima made a cameo appearance at the end of the ad, and kind of confirmed the rumors about a new Nissan Maxima.

This morning, Nissan released two photos of its new Maxima and confirmed that the much-awaited car is going to make an entry at the New York Auto Show for the first time. Although no official word is out about the specifications of this new vehicle, it is a given that the vehicle will be an upgrade of the present Maxima which has an omnipresent 3.5 L, V6 pumping engine that drives 290 hp power to its front wheels.

Many people are dying to see an all-wheel drive in the new Maxima. A rear-wheel drive will be even better, although that seems very unlikely at this moment. The car visually appears to be pretty striking for a large sedan. Some of its design elements seem to be inspired by that of the new 2015 Nissan Murano – which is also much better than many of the standard crossovers out there.

The “4-door Sports Car” moniker is being used by Nissan to add some amount of performance credibility to the vehicle. There are many 4-door sporty cars and it is hoped that Nissan Maxima will justify its claim. Nissan will probably use a V6 engine under the bonnet, although the powertrain is not confirmed as yet.
