2016 Ford Focus RS: This Is Your 320-HP, AWD Monster Hatch from Ford

The upcoming Focus RS will be released in North America, and it’s a game changer…

The wait is over and Ford, one of the hottest US-based auto manufacturers, has unveiled the first look of its newest 2016 Ford Focus RS which is the 320 hp all-wheel drive monster hatchback that was eagerly awaited by all car lovers. It was long out of the reach of U.S buyers, but the wait now seems to be over.

The standard Focus ST, which is one of the hottest hatchback models to be found on the market at present, comes with a 2 L turbo four engine that produces 270 pound-feet of torque and 252 hp of peak power. The new Focus RS will be a meaner machine with a 2.3 L turbo four engine that comes from the Mustang EcoBoost and can produce a commanding 320 pound-feet of torque and a maximum power of 320 hp. It is mated with a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox, which allows you to choose your own gear.

Yes, the bestial, machine gun-like five-cylinder engine is good. It will be missed. But the 2.3-liter four is the future of small-displacement EcoBoost power, and it should be great.

A official announcement from Ford states that the new RS will boast of a solid feature which was long being awaited – all-wheel drive. Although the previous RS was a front-wheel drive model it was mainly free of laming torque steer due to its RevoKnuckle suspension. However, the latest RS will come with a full 4-wheel power and fit for a rally.

The 2016 Ford Focus RS will be coming with a torque vectoring all-wheel drive which would drive 70% of the torque to its rear axle. 100% of that torque would be diverted to a single wheel. It can continuously monitor the conditions between the rear and the front wheels and find out where all of the power will be diverted to. So this is a smart all-wheel drive that drivers can enjoy.

The car will have an electric power steering, although the official word from Ford is that it will deliver an “outstanding feel.” The car will consist of standard Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, just the kind of sticky road tire that you would love to have. There will also be optional tough Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, just in case you want them.
