There has been confirmation from Acura that it will launch its new NSX supercar at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show next year. It has released some new teasers in the run up to the launch, to generate excitement. The teasers reveal that the NSX, which is in production as of now and will go on sale in 2015, will be similar to the original concept version that was displayed first in 2012 at the Detroit Auto Show.

This will obviously delight Japanese speed junkies and car lovers, due to the fact that the original NSX was nothing short of a really amazing supercar and belongs up there with the Aston Martin, Porsche or Ferrari.

Ted Klaus, the chief engineer of the car, stated “We’ve developed a human-centered supercar that responds to the will of the driver and that builds upon the NSX heritage.”

No other details have come out so far other than these teasers. However, it is known that the car has been developed by a team consisting of engineers from across the globe working at the American R&D center of Acura in Raymond, Ohio. The car will be manufactured in Marysville, Ohio at the Performance Manufacturing Center.

The new NSX will come with a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine paired with a dual-clutch transmission. It will have 3 electric motors and an advanced hybrid drivetrain. The front wheels will be powered by two electric motors and the rear wheels will be powered by the third motor. While cornering, positive or negative torque will immediately be generated at the wheels by the bilateral torque control system. This will assist in handling and offer what is described by Acura as “on-the-rails-cornering” experience.

The original NSX, which sold from 1990 to 2005, was nothing short of a classic. It was worked on by Ayrton Senna, the legendary F1 driver. Although Senna is now no more, it can be safely expected that the reboot will not be any lesser than the original. The new NSX, with its angular appearance and 3-motor hybrid powertrain, is set to offer stiff competition to the Porsche and Ferrari once again.
