The new Acura ILX has debuted at the LA Auto Show, and it comes as a big upgrade. With the launch of the vehicle, Acura has announced that it will be coming with a standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine which would produce peak torque of 180 lb-ft and maximum power of 201 HP.

Like the Acura TLX, the ILX has its engine coupled with an 8-speed dual clutch transmission and also comes with a torque converter which can offer smoother launches off the line. Acura chief Mike Acavitti said at the LA Auto Show that the vehicle goes beyond simply being a mid-cycle refresh. It comes with a complete refurbishing of interior, exterior, performance and technology.

Instead of the usual 3, the car will also be available in as many as 6 trim levels. It consists of standard equipment such as signature JewelEye LED headlights as well as interior improvements such as a high-intensity silver trim and contrasting stitched leather for the instrument panel in the side of the passengers.

Acura is looking to spice up its entry level luxury offering by launching the 2016 ILX with more features, high tech options and sensible packaging in terms of engines and transmissions. It also consists of an A-SPEC package which can be blended with Premium and Technology packages in order to increase the ILX value offering.

The A-SPEC trimmed cars boast of sportier styling in the interiors as well as the exteriors and comprise of new 18-inch alloy wheels with gloss black inserts, front fog lights, trunk spoiler and side sill garnishes. The interior of the A-SPEC models boast of a sportier appearance complete with red instrument illumination, aluminum pedals, exclusive gray interior stitching, perforated black Lux Suede seat inserts and black headliner.

It seems like Acura had been really serious when it informed that the ILX was coming with a major update. The new engine and transmission are good enough and make the ILX worthwhile in its segment. The rich tech features and extra luxury are only an icing on the cake.
