2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport Pricing Details Announced

The pricing for the Land Rover Discovery Sport, the new model from Land Rover which has been targeted at buyers of mid-premium variety vehicles, has recently been announced. The new Discovery Sport comes with a base price of $38,920 and it would be useful for customers who do not wish to go for the costlier cars in the present land Rover lineup.

In the fleet of cars from Land Rover, the Discovery Sport is likely to replace the LR2. It will offer seats in the 3^rd row and use a full-aluminum frame and architecture similar to that of the Range Rover Evoque. The car will also come with the same 9-speed transmission and the 240hp engine which is to be found beneath the hood of the Evoque models, which can improve the company economy.

Although it is not clear at this moment how many Discovery Sport vehicles Land Rover has planned to release, it can be imagined that the price of these cars will be lower than the rest of the lineup from Land Rover.

As Jaguar Land Rover Group marketing director Phil Popham said, the launch of the Discovery Sport “…is a pivotal moment in the 66-year history of Land Rover”. He further added that the launch marks the introduction of the first model from the growing lineup of Discovery as well as makes the compact premium SUV market more versatile with the addition of the 5+2 seating. There will be a folding third row which, when not being used, will slide under the cargo floor.

There will be a transverse-mounted, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in all the U.S versions of the Sport. This mill be capable of producing 240 hp and will be mated with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. There will be a standard 4-wheel drive, the same powertrain which can be found in the Range Rover Evoque.

Land Rover is reportedly hoping that its new addition to the Discovery lineup will be able to stand out from its German competitors due to the “5+2″ seating option. The car has been designed to go further into the wilderness as compared to most of its competitors.
