About Mercedes-Benz Tires
When you look at a Mercedes-Benz, you’re looking at more than just a famous brand of car. Mercedes-Benz arguably holds claim to building the first gas powered car in history. Karl Benz built the Benz Patent Motorwagen in 1885, which is widely regarded to be the world’s first production automobile. It ran on Benz’s two-stroke engine which he invented in 1873, and rolled on steel-spoked wheels and solid rubber tires, which Benz had also created. Indeed the history of Mercedes-Benz is that of German engineering and the very automobile itself. From a team that powered the world’s first “Horseless Stagecoach” to the innovative and economic powerhouse it is to this day, Mercedes-Benz has etched its reputation for leading edge practices, and exquisite craftsmanship.
The company that most people refer to as “Mercedes” is actually called Daimler AG. It was founded when Karl Benz merged his assets with Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft, the German engineering company who’s 1901 was also one of the world’s first gas powered cars. Benz remained on the board of Daimler until his demise at the end of the 1920s. Mercedes went on to build cars and trucks across all services and platforms for Germany, most famously building a limousine that became very popular among World War 2 dictators. The Mercedes S-class sedans (examples: S450, S560, S63 AMG, S65 AMG) carry on that tradition to this day, with exquisite luxury paired with mind bending performance and safety (including bullet and rocket proof trims!). Despite their unusual history, the global presence of Mercedes-Benz luxury sedans helped prove to the world that their vehicles were among the best, most reliable, highest performing, and thus demand would increase year over year. Introductions of the E-class (examples: E350, E450, E63 S AMG, E53 S AMG) , and C-class (examples: C300, C43 AMG, C63 AMG). With its reputation as a precision engineered luxury sedan powerhouse firmly in place, Mercedes went on to continue inventing. With their G-Class SUV already a major competitor with the Land Rovers of the world, they set out to create a luxury runabout before even Lexus had brought the RX to market. The M-Class, now the GLE, debuted in 1997 as a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi. This expansion would change the entire global SUV landscape, and today Mercedes has broadened its SUV catalogue across a wide range of sizes, with GLA, GLB, GLC, and GLS joining the other two.
As Mercedes-Benz can lay claim to the earliest versions of the Automobile, so can they lay claim to the foundations of motor racing. Bolstered by their tremendously successful Formula 1 department, and the V8 madmen at AMG, Mercedes has a solid reputation of podium finishes, and championships across all of motorsport. In 2014 Mercedes engineering was crystalized, polished, and released as the AMG-GT sports car. The ultimate expression of Mercedes-Benz power and performance, this was developed with the assistance of legendary F1 Champion Lewis Hamilton, and is said to evoke one of the best driving experiences possible. What better statement could there be from the company that practically invented driving as we know it.
