About Jaguar Tires
What began as Swallow Sidecar Company back in 1922 is now the automotive powerhouse known as Jaguar. The co-founder of Swallow Sidecar, William Lyons, would sell his share in 1934 and start a business building cars called S.S.. By 1935, Lyons had built the S. S. Jaguar 100, however the company name would gain less than positive associations during World War 2. Lyons and his shareholders chose to change the company name to Jaguar, given that model’s success, and the distinctive nature of the name. From that time forward the Jaguar brand would survive through a tumultuous history, and develop some of the most iconic cars in the world.
Jaguar would grow to dominate the European sports coupe market throughout the 1950s and 1960s with the XK series and legendary E-Type. However, by focusing a little too heavily on existing models and neglecting innovation throughout the 1970s, the company would begin to fail. With the exception of the top speed record setting XJ220, Jaguar would mostly fade away until being purchased by Ford in 1999. Ford would stimulate Jaguar into creating notable models like the S-Type and X-Type, and both would see commercial success among those interested in a unique and luxurious driving experience. These two sedans kept Jaguar afloat until the Global Economic crisis of 2008, when it was sold by Ford to Tata Motors of India along with Land Rover. Driven to avoid the mistakes of the past, Tata formed Jaguar Land Rover Limited, and inject the brand with some innovative DNA.
Today Land Rover SUVs can be found on the track using performance upgrades from Jaguar, and vise versa, Jaguar has expanded into the Luxury SUV market. The F-Pace and E-Pace had resounding success, with positive review for not only their luxury, but off-road performance. Now, the new I-Pace has been revealed, Jaguar’s first entry into the EV market, and in competition with the Tesla Model-X. It has been so successful that after only one year of production the I-Pace earned 2019 World Car of the Year, also winning Best Design and Best Green Car awards, the first car to ever sweep three categories. This SUV success has been an incredible bolster to the regained success of Jaguar’s sports coupe lineup. The F-Type’s gorgeous styling and top level performance on and off the track has caught attention all over the world. With a history of long-bonnet sportscars, reviewers everywhere were impressed by the F-Type and especially by its race bred version the F-Type R. Throughout its life, Jaguar has always shown dedication to success, and when the time has come to innovate, it has chosen to lead instead of follow.
