About Porsche Performance Air Suspension

From the hallowed ground of Stuttgart, Germany comes one of the most iconic vehicle brands in history. The company was originally founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche as an engineering consultancy. Porsche found success in aiding companies like Audi with their designs, but their efforts were quickly cut down so the German government could hire him. Porsche would design formidable German military machines like the Tiger and Elefant tanks, before being commissioned to make Germany’s most well known runabout, the “People’s Car” or Volkswagen.

The Volkswagen Beetle would go on to be one of the most mass produced cars in history. Eventually, Porsche would use components from the Beetle in their first sports coupe, the 356. The curvaceous design of the 356, especially the “round eye” headlights would persist to this very day, and eventually make its way to the car most synonymous with Porsche, the almighty 911. The Porsche 911 began as an experiment in rear-engine design. Using the laterally opposed or “Boxer” style engine, mounted behind the rear axle, was initially heavily criticized, however Porsche saw this as more of a challenge. These days the 911 remains on the top performance car lists among even the harshest of critics, by sticking to the same layout for over 50 years Porsche has simply refined and honed their car more and more. A global player in the sportscar market, Porsche would grow to be known for their relentless pursuit of speed, combined with reliability and luxury. Even as Porsche would contribute to the world’s catalogue of supercars with the 959 (one of the first to break 200mph), the Carrera GT, and the 918 Spyder, as those powerhouses would age they would all be replaced by a higher performance 911 Turbo or GT2.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s Porsche would introduce new models like the 924 and 928, but their biggest strides would come around the turn of the century. First the introduction of the Boxster and Cayman (both now using the 718 Badge) would give consumers the performance that people always associate with Porsche but with a mid-engine layout and a lower price point. Porsche’s reputation would continue to precede itself as a corporate restructuring in the early 2000s led to further collaborations with Volkswagen and Audi (all now members of VAG, a conglomerate including Lamborghini, Bugatti, and Bentley). From these collaborations would come entries into the family sedan and SUV market. While still performance focused, the Panamera, Cayenne, and Macan would include comfort features and more storage space for passengers and cargo. Finally Porsche had an entry for just about anyone, be them someone with a large household, a performance focused gearhead, or high profile downtown businessperson.

Not to be outdone by almost a century of innovation, Porsche’s newest mission is to position themself alongside Tesla as a world leader in all electric vehicles. The Taycan is a direct attack at the Tesla Model S, complete with extreme levels of performance, and extended battery life. With an entry into almost every segment of the automotive market, Porsche is a major player to showcase the utmost of luxury, speed and quality.
